The story is set in Finland, Ristiina, on the shores of Lake Saimaa in a fictive summer cottage in the middle of nature during the hot July weekend in 2018. The relationships between the four siblings approaching late middle age have escalated into an inheritance dispute and, with it, a 12-year gap. Before that, the development of sibling relationships over the decades has been influenced by many significant events that are advancing in flashbacks.

The youngest of the siblings, Hanna, arranges a well-planned meeting to try to rectify the break-up. The siblings arrive with the goal of division of inheritance, but gradually the events take dramatic turns. The siblings' re-created relationships are put to the test early on when painful memories of the past and the family's silent secrets begin to be revealed. The meeting has a price, and the result is not in line with anyone's expectations.
